Preparing your home for interior painting
How much you do before we arrive changes how quickly the job runs, and a room that is ready on the first morning tends to finish a day earlier than one that is not.
- Take down wall decorations, mirrors and anything breakable.
- Pull furniture three to four feet off the walls so there is room to cut in and roll.
- Wipe surfaces clear of dust and cooking film, which stop paint bonding.
- Tell us which rooms have to stay usable, and we will phase the work around them.
Timing an exterior project in Omaha
Nebraska gives a genuinely narrow window for exterior work. Humidity and freeze-thaw cycles decide when a coating will cure properly, and no amount of scheduling pressure changes that.
- Most exterior coatings want 50F to 85F during application, and no freeze overnight.
- Spring through late autumn is the workable season, and the calendar fills months ahead.
- High durability latex and elastomeric finishes handle the movement best.
- A job rushed into the wrong week is the most common cause of early peeling.

Commercial painting without closing the building
Most commercial work is a sequencing problem rather than a painting problem. The question is never whether we can paint the space, it is how much of the building you lose while we do.
- Nights and weekends are normal for us, not an exception you have to negotiate.
- Low VOC products where a space has to stay occupied during the work.
- Dust containment and protection staged so the rest of the floor keeps operating.
- A single point of contact from the bid through to the closeout walk.

Choosing a sheen
Sheen is the decision people most often get wrong, and it is worth publishing because it is a property of the product rather than an opinion. The higher the sheen, the tougher the surface and the more it shows what is underneath it.
| Sheen | Where it belongs | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Flat and matte | Ceilings and low traffic walls | Hides surface imperfection better than anything else, because it reflects almost no light. It also marks easily, so keep it off anything hands touch. |
| Eggshell and satin | Living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens | The workhorse range. Enough sheen to wipe clean, little enough that it does not show every roller lap or wall flaw. |
| Semi-gloss | Doors, trim, cabinetry, bathrooms | Hard, washable and moisture resistant. It shows preparation, so the surface underneath has to be right before it goes on. |
| Gloss | Feature doors and high wear millwork | The most durable and the least forgiving. Every ridge and every sanding mark reads at an angle, which is why it is used sparingly. |
